The contact owns a 2021 Ford Edge. The contact stated that a week after the check engine warning light had illuminated, the vehicle was difficult to start after refueling at the gas station. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to start after several attempts. Additionally, the contact stated that upon starting, the vehicle emitted an abnormally strong odor. The vehicle was taken to Parkway Service Center and to O’Reilly Auto, where diagnostic trouble codes 4056 and 4096, indicating an EVAP purge valve failure were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall.
