The Virage was introduced in 1988, and was available as a coupe or a convertible (the latter known as Virage Volante) and was usually powered by Aston’s 5.3-litre V8 engine, which was nearly 20 years into its long production life. As an option, Aston Martin would raise the capacity of the engine to 6.3 litres and make the car wider. The present King Charles III, then Prince of Wales, commissioned a unique version with the larger engine but the standard body width.
