In September 2025, UK passenger car production fell by 27.1% year-on-year, down to 51,090 units.
The main reason was an unprecedented cyberattack: on September 2, Jaguar Land Rover reported a massive cybersecurity incident that forced the shutdown of its largest plant. Production was halted for nearly a month, resulting in the loss of over 25,000 vehicles.
Interestingly, nearly half of the cars produced in September were electric vehicles (24,450 units, up 14.7%), confirming the UK’s accelerated shift toward green technologies.
