The contact owns a 2024 Lexus NX350. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a left turn into a fast-food restaurant, the vehicle made an abnormal popping sound. The contact stated while in the drive through and shifting from park(P) to drive(D), the vehicle failed to shift into the intended gear; however, the instrument panel and the gear shifter indicated that the vehicle was in drive(D). The message ‘Park’ was displayed. A bystander advised the contact to shift to neutral(N). The contact shifted to neutral(N); however, the message ‘Park’ remained displayed while the vehicle was in neutral(N), and the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that three bystanders were unable to push the vehicle. The contact’s husband, who was on the phone, advised the contact to turn off the vehicle. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed upon shifting to drive(D). The vehicle was taken to the residence. The contact stated that the failure had previously occurred; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
