The contact owns a 2012 Kia Sportage. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) and 23V652000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact merged to the side of the road and the engine seized. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because the dealer and the manufacturer informed the contact, that the vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the service maintenance was not performed at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
