The contact owns a 2021 Kia Seltos. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V259000 (ENGINE). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle vibrated, and failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and failed an inspection. The contact was informed that a new engine would be ordered. The contact picked up the vehicle and was informed that the manufacturer had placed a hold on the recall repair. However, an update to the piston ring noise sensing system (PNSS) was performed. The contact was informed that the vehicle then passed the inspection. The dealer refused to replace the engine and the vehicle was removed from the recall list. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle then failed the inspection. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.
