The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to register the presence of the key fob inside the vehicle. The contact stated while driving and using the navigation system, the navigation system independently changed the destination address. The contact stated that the vehicle started independently while the contact was not in the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle shut off inadvertently while making a turn. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer it was purchased from, and the lighting assembly underneath the seats were removed and the key fobs were replaced; however, the failures recurred. The vehicle was taken to Farris Motor Company (246 E Broadway Blvd, Jefferson City, TN 37760), where the driver’s side and passenger’s side front door panels modules, the radio frequency antenna and the infotainment system were replaced. Additionally, the dealer attempted to bypass the alarm by unplugging the hood latch; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to Farris Jeep Ram Chrysler Dodge (910 W Morris Blvd, Morristown, TN 37813) where the BCM was replaced, and the vehicle was temporarily repaired. The contact stated that the failures had been recurring. The contact disconnected the battery to prevent the alarm from sounding at night. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
