Description:
On [XXX], I opened my car door slightly to get out. I stood up and the door leaned back quickly and caught my thumb. I was trying to get the handle to release and it would not. Then my door initiated the soft close feature and secured my thumb in the door and would not release. I was screaming with no help around and my [XXX] in his car seat unable to help open the door. The door remained shut on my finger for about 10 seconds and released. I almost had a panic attack. It is 11 days later and my thumb is not doing well. Iam going to go to and orthopedic doctor this week to have it assessed. Iave been taking ibuprofen and soaking it everyday. I cannot believe this aœsmarta vehicle did not detect something in the door that shouldnat be and open immediately. My now [XXX] talks about it every day. It was a traumatizing experience and I donat feel that I can trust this vehicle. It could have severed my thumb and not to mention had it been one of my children who got a finger stuck! I am so upset and this happened to my dominant hand. Itas still swollen, not the skin is peeling and thereas a huge knot on my thumb with no feeling in it. I only have a sensation in my thumb and I can barely move it. I cannot believe this happened to me and as much as I love my vehicle, I no longer trust it!! There should have been more thought put into the soft close feature! If you close a regular car door on your hand itas going to reopen. If I try to close my garage and something is blocking it, it will not close. Why would this intelligent vehicle secure my thumb and not release. This is terrible! It has to be fixed!! I was so disturbed the day it happened, I couldnat even think straight. I had a nurse practitioner at work look at it and now she thinks it needs orthopedic attention!! The pictures are 11 days post incident. I am terrified to have my dip powder removed from my nail. Iam scared my nail is going to come right off with it!!!
