I was driving on [XXX] leaving from Onawa, IA. Up to this point I had not issue or notifications about my vehicle. While driving North bout and having the adaptive cruise control set at 80 MPH, I was in the left lane passing 3 semis in the right lane. After passing the first one, the first semi merged to the left lane following. I was approximately 1/2 passed the next semi when all the sudden my cruise started to slow down. It went from 80 to 78 back to 80, then 80 back to 77 to 80. Suddenly and with no warning the engine completely shut down and I went from 80 — 0 is approx. 100 feet. The semi behind me sounded their horn loudly as they almost hit my rear end before merging over. I had no time to go over to the right shoulder and had to go to the left where the vehicle would not move. I could not move the vehicle off the shoulder as it would not shift to natural. Law enforcement was notified as the safety of the vehicle on the left side of the interstate caused safety issues.
