Description:
The contact owns a 2024 Acura ZDX. The contact stated after his wife had pulled out of the driveway and depressed the brake pedal, the messages ‘Complete Outer Brake Failure’, ‘Top Speed 43 MPH’ and ‘Stabili-trak Failure’ were displayed. Additionally, several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The driver shifted into drive(D) to return into the driveway. The driver depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that his son who was a passenger was in the vehicle at the time of the failure. The driver shifted to park(P), and the vehicle stopped abruptly. The contact’s wife informed the contact of the failure. The contact then test-drove the vehicle and was able to replicate the failure. The contact stated that the warning messages and warning lights were no longer illuminated when the tow truck service arrived to the residence an hour later; however, the braking failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the failure could not be replicated, and the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The manufacturer assigned an emergency technician to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 390.
