There is an active recall (69E6 — Driver Frontal Airbag Inflator) on my 2014 Volkswagen Passat. About 2 months ago, I scheduled an appointment with my local Volkswagen dealer to get this recall resolved. I was told that the parts were on back order and haven’t heard anything for almost 2 months, meaning this is not being resolved in a timely manner and I continue to drive my car with added risk. I have continued to reach out to the dealer to no avail. Today, I then attempted to contact Volkswagen directly and was unable to gather anything of value as they continued to tell me that all I can do is continue to stay in touch with my Volkswagen dealer (conversation has been downloaded). At this point — I have no clue how to proceed and just wish to have my recall repaired so I can drive without extra risk of injury. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? 69E6 — Driver Frontal Airbag Inflator How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes — Safety Recall: 69E6 — Driver Frontal Airbag Inflator Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I was told to wait until the part was available to complete the recall resolution. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No — I received a letter in the mail from Volkswagen of America.
