The contact stated that while shifting from park(P) to drive(D), there was an abnormal thud coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. The vehicle was diagnosed with a defective catalytic converter. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
