The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the front driver’s side door and the front passenger’s side door were difficult to open and close in cold weather. The contact stated that the failure required to remotely start the vehicle several times for the door lock and latch mechanism to warm up. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under Ford Campaign Number: 20M04; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the front driver’s side door was taken apart and the dealer installed foam, tape, glue, and lubricant to an unknown door part at the contacts expense; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact recalled receiving notification of Ford Campaign Number: 18N03, which stated that the warranty coverage was extended to 2028. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for the repair; however, the vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 53,345.
