The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while hauling a trailer, the tailgate lowered unexpectedly. Additionally, during the summer, the door latch system failed to open from outside while the doors were unlocked. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the latching spring and the latching system needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
