The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine was sputtering with the parking brake warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and there was white smoke coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact paid for a diagnostic test and was informed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); for the contact had linked to the failure. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.
