The tailgate opens by randomly. I was in a CVS parking lot walking towards my car and saw the tailgate open without any commands. A young kid running towards his mother’s car was just able to avoid running into it and getting ‘clotheslined’. Another vehicle found it necessary to drive around the tailgate protruding from the parking spot. I have been finding the tailgate down multiple times, and thought I may have left it open even when I was sure I didn’t. I also shut my tailgate recently and noticed I have a large dent in the tailgate itself when I closed it. It may have opened on another vehicle, or it was open when I was backing up assuming it was closed. After reading online I came across many owners having the exact same problems with the exact same truck. GM has told me the problem is VIN specific, and my VIN was not listed; therefore, no recall notice ever sent out to me.
