When backing up the vehicle, the front brakes squeak as if the wear sensor is engaging. The noise goes away and does not reappear for the remainder of the drive cycle. I took it to the dealer and the pads are not in need of replacement. The service writer stated that it is a ‘characteristic’ of the vehicle and GM is aware of the problem. They have not issued a service bulletin for this. They also refuse to replace any parts relating to this problem. A search of the internet reveals this is a common problem with XT4’s over several years. A simple solution appears to be to lubricate the pads where they seat into the caliper.
