The contact’s wife stated that the brake pedal felt unusually soft and spongy while depressed. The contact’s wife stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard; however, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact’s wife stated that the failure caused her to drive through several red lights. The contact’s wife drove the vehicle into a parking lot and depressed the brake pedal to the floorboard and the vehicle eventually stopped. The vehicle was parked and then towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with a leak in rear brake hoses. The contact was informed that both brake hoses needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,898.
