The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormally loud rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the cam phasers were defective. The contact stated that a previous campaign (21B10) was performed on the vehicle to repair the cam phasers; however, the dealer acknowledged that the campaign had failed to repair the failure. The contact was then referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The contact was informed that there was no recall or warranty on vehicle. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 48,641.
