The contact owns a 2018 Ram 3500. The contact stated while his neighbor was driving the vehicle at an undisclosed speed, the cruise control disengaged unintendedly. The ABS warning light and the traction control warning light were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure had recurred while driving 65 MPH and while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the HCU had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part was on a national backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted while driving. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure through email. The failure mileage was approximately 6,500.
