2023 Yukon XL AT4 with 6.2L engine. [XXX] started to hear rattling noise coming from the engine area. I took the vehicle to a GMC dealer in Houston TX. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a defective transmission plate? Said they would have to order the part. Part arrived and while at the dealer they decided to inspect the oil pan. In the oil pan they found metal shavings. It was reported to me yesterday [XXX] that the engine would need to be replaced. This vehicle has roughly 17,000 miles and its been just over 1 1/2 years since purchased brand new by me. No confirmation of when a new motor will be available for replacement. Was told it could be months. Was also told that the vehicle is unsafe to drive since the engine could lock up at any time based on their findings.
