The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that after the vehicle was serviced at the local dealer for a manufacturer software update the vehicle’s display console began to experience failures causing several safety features to become inoperable. Later, while driving in reverse the vehicle crashed into the pole. During the incident, the collision avoidance feature to alert the driver was not activated. The contact indicated that as the vehicle drove closer to the pole the driver’s seat did not vibrate, the audible alarm was not active and the warning message was not displayed to alert the driver of an impending crash into the pole. During the crash, the contact experienced an injured back that did not require medical attention at the time. No police report was filed and the vehicle was driven from the scene. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 10,500.
