The contact’s father owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while he was driving at approximately 65 MPH, the ‘door open’ alarm and chime was sounding, indicating that the driver’s side door was open. The contact observed that the driver’s side door was closed. The contact pulled off the highway, stopped the vehicle, and turned off and restarted the vehicle several times and the alarm turned off. The contact stated that her father related that the failure was recurring and additionally, the door locks were unlocking independently, and that the driver’s side door keypad was constantly illuminated, causing the battery to be drained. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.
