Description:
I am writing to formally report a recurring and potentially hazardous issue with the Reverse Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system on my 2024 Acura ZDX EV. This malfunction significantly impacts the safety and usability of the vehicle. Specifically, the reverse AEB system frequently engages unnecessarily, applying phantom braking even when there are no obstacles behind the car. This issue occurs repeatedly’at least 3 to 4 times’every time I attempt to reverse out of my driveway. As a result, it is nearly impossible to back out into a busy street safely. Although the AEB feature can be manually turned off, it reactivates automatically with each new ignition cycle, creating an ongoing problem. The constant need to disable the system is inconvenient, and forgetting to do so exacerbates the safety risks. Additionally, I have observed that this issue is not isolated to my vehicle. Several other Acura ZDX 2024 EV owners have reported similar problems, as evidenced in online forums and community discussions. I have contacted the dealership regarding this matter, but a permanent solution has not yet been provided. Given the frequency and severity of this issue, I am concerned for my safety and that of other drivers. I urge NHTSA to investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate action to ensure that Acura addresses this defect promptly.
